Adapter support

MultiAuto connects from an iPhone to generic Wi-Fi ELM327 OBD-II adapters over local TCP. It does not support Bluetooth of any kind. The table separates current connection support from the limited hardware qualification that has actually happened.

Wi-Fi ELM327 only

The default endpoint is the Veepeak VP01 address 192.168.0.10:35000. You can enter a different host and port for another Wi-Fi ELM327 adapter.

Compatibility is not universal

The Veepeak VP01 is the primary development adapter, not a formally certified adapter. Generic ELM327 clone firmware varies widely, and adapter compatibility does not guarantee compatibility with every vehicle, protocol, ECU, or supported PID.

Bluetooth is not supported in this version

MultiAuto has no Bluetooth connection path and requests no Bluetooth permission. This includes Bluetooth LE and Bluetooth Classic adapters. Use a Wi-Fi ELM327 adapter instead.

Version 1.0 connection support

Supported in this version
MultiAuto supports this Wi-Fi ELM327 connection type over local TCP. Vehicle and clone compatibility can still vary.
Best effort in this version
The connection type is supported, but generic clone quality varies and no compatibility with every adapter or vehicle is promised.
Not supported in this version
MultiAuto does not support this connection type. Do not buy it for use with this version.

Development and qualification status

Primary development adapter
This adapter was used during development of the Wi-Fi connection. That is not a formal compatibility certification.
Not formally qualified
No formal compatibility qualification has been completed for this adapter family.
Not applicable
Qualification is not applicable because MultiAuto does not support this connection type.
  • Veepeak OBDCheck VP01

    Supported in this version

    Wi-Fi

    Status: Primary development adapter

Primary development adapter. MultiAuto defaults to its 192.168.0.10:35000 endpoint, but this is not a claim of formal qualification or universal vehicle compatibility.

  • Generic ELM327 clone

    Best effort in this version

    Wi-Fi

    Status: Not formally qualified

Supported over local TCP with a custom host and port. Clone firmware quality varies widely, so compatibility cannot be guaranteed.

  • Veepeak OBDCheck BLE+

    Not supported in this version

    Bluetooth LE

    Status: Not applicable

Not supported in this version. MultiAuto has no Bluetooth connection path.

  • OBDLink MX+ / CX

    Not supported in this version

    Bluetooth LE

    Status: Not applicable

Not supported in this version. MultiAuto has no Bluetooth connection path.

  • LELink / Vgate iCar

    Not supported in this version

    Bluetooth LE

    Status: Not applicable

Not supported in this version. MultiAuto has no Bluetooth connection path.

  • Generic ELM327 (Bluetooth Classic)

    Not supported in this version

    Bluetooth Classic

    Status: Not applicable

Not supported in this version. MultiAuto supports Wi-Fi ELM327 adapters only.

A note on the Veepeak VP01

MultiAuto's default host and port match the Veepeak OBDCheck VP01, and that adapter was used as the primary development hardware. That is the extent of the claim: it is not a formal qualification result, a certification, or a promise that every vehicle will respond the same way.

A note on generic clones

Many inexpensive adapters identify themselves as ELM327 devices, but clone firmware quality varies. Some ignore commands, return malformed data, or advertise capabilities they do not implement. MultiAuto lets you enter a custom local host and port, but it cannot make every clone reliable.

A note on what your car exposes

MultiAuto requests standard live-data values. A vehicle may support only some of them, and the app shows unavailable values as unsupported rather than inventing a reading.
